By 1992, John was managing Team Canada at the Pan-Am games in Cuba. In 1995 he was inducted into the Windsor / Essex County Sports Hall of Fame, and in 2005, was similarily inducted as part of a basketball team into the University of Windsor Sports Hall of Fame.
